The Brothers Warner

Intimate portraits of brothers Albert Warner, Harry M. Warner, Jack L. Warner, and Sam Warner, the siblings who were close knit at the time of Warner Bros. Studios founding, but who later became estranged. This film, written and directed by Harry's granddaughter Cass, traces them from their humble, immigrant beginnings, to their breakthrough achievements, and their continuing imprint on American culture. This historic view of a family, and Hollywood's golden years offers invaluable and rare still photographs, classic film footage, and private access to relatives, friends, employees, and historians.

The Brothers Warner

THE BROTHERS WARNER is an intimate portrait of the four film pioneers who founded and ran Warner Bros. for over 50 years.

Its written, directed and in the voice of Cass Warner Sperling, Harry Warners granddaughter. Their epic story includes never before seen photos and footage and unfolds through the eyes of family members and those who personally knew them, and experienced the Golden Years of Hollywood.

This is the inside story of the little known major player in the Warner Bros. studio legend, Harry Warner, honest Abe, visionary Sam, and volatile Jack--the original Hollywood independent filmmakers. This close-knit band of brothers was the first to use mass media to educate, entertain, and enlighten. Their films were often ripped from news headlines. It was Harrys personal belief that, "Those who make a nations entertainment have obligations above and beyond their primary commercial objective, which is the box office."

Their legendary scrappy rise from nothing, their overcoming of personal tragedies, and their battles are all woven together with the times they lived in. From opening their first storefront theater by hanging a sheet on the wall and borrowing chairs from a funeral parlor to creating one of the top studios in America--four brothers built an empire on a dream and revolutionized Hollywood.
